A global B2B manufacturer may already monitor ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity. That work can be useful. The mistake is treating it as proof of what a buyer will see when researching suppliers inside China’s AI environment.
The business question comes first
Visibility matters only when it connects to a real purchase decision: finding qualified suppliers, checking an application fit, verifying a claim, comparing options or reaching the right person. The same company can appear clearly for one question and be absent or poorly represented for another.
A China baseline therefore begins with a priority product, a buyer situation and a small question library. Each observation records the product and entry point used, the wording and language, the date, material access conditions, the original answer and any visible sources.
Four parts of the market change
Product
Name the AI product, entry point and mode. An API test is not presented as a consumer-app result.
Question
Use the buyer’s Chinese terminology, application, constraints and decision stage—not a literal keyword translation.
Sources
Record the pages and citations available in the observed answer, including local access and source gaps.
Action
Check whether an interested buyer can reach the correct China entity, technical owner, distributor, sample or RFQ path.
A baseline is an evidence set, not a single score
A score can summarize a defined sample. It cannot show by itself whether the questions were commercially relevant, whether a product claim is correct, whether a citation supports the answer or whether the buyer can take the next step.
Question → conditions → original answer → visible sources → fact review → business action
Keeping that chain intact lets a company distinguish an observed fact from information supplied by a provider, a reasoned inference and a professional recommendation. It also prevents a blocked test from being reported as poor visibility.
What improvement can responsibly target
GEOB2B does not control a third-party AI answer. Improvement focuses on the information a company can govern: entity clarity, approved product facts, accessible Chinese information, supporting evidence, source consistency and the path to a commercial conversation.
After approved changes are implemented, comparable observations can show what changed and what did not. Changes in answers and changes in sales outcomes remain separate claims unless the evidence supports a connection.

We will review whether a focused China AI baseline can reduce a real commercial uncertainty.
